Technical features of HDBaseT

HDBaseT is a network-based specification that brings together audio, video, network, control signals, and power supply lines to a common network cable for transmission.

HDBaseT uses a fully open specification, unlike HDMI and DP, which choose a dedicated interface, but a standardized RJ45 network cable interface, and uses the simplest and lowest cost plan to complete the user's requirements. Therefore, the cable does not need to be special, only the current Cat5e/6 network cable can be used as a signal transmission line, which can not only transmit images and voices, but also retain the function of the network cable itself. There is no doubt that the cost of HDBaseT is much lower than that of HDMI, which requires additional connectors and cables.

HDBaseT supports up to 20Gbps transmission rate, which is twice that of HDMI. This also allows HDBaseT to fully meet all the requirements of supporting uncompressed Full HD 1080P video data transmission, and any color depth, resolution and picture refresh rate can be freely converted, which is undoubtedly more in line with the requirements of high-resolution digital content with higher traffic in the future. Even in 4k × 2k ultra-high resolutions, HDBaseT has a talent for perfunctory.

Another feature of HDBaseT is its support for the POE (Power over Ethernet) specification (IEEE 802.3af) and the POE Plus specification (IEEE802.3at).
