Its main value lies in the digitization of relevant image and sound information and its transformation into the data format specified by the service and transmission network. For example, the common Cisco SX20, Huawei TE20, and urban cloud high-definition video equipment P3 are video devices produced by three different companies for small and medium-sized conference scenarios, but their value in the video conference system is the same, responsible for converting video/audio/data into data information that meets the requirements of the transmission network, and in real-time meetings, it assumes the role of information collection of the scene, and is also one of the most common terminal devices for users.
Communication network (transmission channel): the core of information circulation
After collecting data information through the video conference terminal, it needs to be transmitted to the video conference terminal in a different place, and it needs to rely on the communication network (transmission channel) to complete the transmission work, and the communication network refers to the general term of various transmission media connected to the video conference terminal equipment to enable the terminal equipment to transmit video, audio and data.
At present, the communication network (transmission channel) is diversified, including optical cables, cables, microwaves, digital channels such as satellites, etc. Common video conferencing systems can be used to select different vendors for transmission channels according to the needs of enterprises, such as the current China Unicom, China Telecom, Mobile, etc., and the transmission channels of video conferencing systems are different in cross-border communication.
MCU (Multipoint Control Unit): Information switch
MCU, which stands for Multi Control Unit, is an important part of the video conferencing system, and its main role is to converge, distribute and switch signals from multiple venues, and control the conference. In fact, it is a multimedia information switch.
It can be understood that the MCU is the processing point for the convergence and exchange of audio, video, data, signaling and other signals of each video conference terminal device, and is connected with other MCUs. It processes audiovisual and data signals according to certain criteria and assigns them to the corresponding connected channels. Realize multi-point call and connection, video broadcasting, video selection, audio mixing and data broadcasting, etc., and complete the convergence and switching of each terminal signal.
In hardware-based video conferencing, the multi-point control unit is implemented through a single hardware unit, i.e., the multi-point control unit. In software-based video conferencing, the multi-point control unit is realized through software, so the MCU in the pure cloud video conferencing system is generally realized by cloud computing technology, not based on the hardware MCU purchased by the enterprise, which saves the hardware cost for the enterprise, and its related costs are packaged to the enterprise as a service content for the pay-as-you-go charging content.
